Decatur welcomes new entertainment studio

With Atlanta’s film and television industry increasingly growing at an accelerated rate, a new sound stage Aztec Warriors Studio recently held its grand opening on Friday, Feb. 17 in Decatur

The second minority-owned studio and the first Latino-owned studio in Georgia, the studio features a 7.4-acre lot with a 20,765 square foot multi-functional sound stage and office space, antebellum exterior, and rustic landscaping.

“We are a new vehicle adding to the infrastructure of the fast-growing film industry in Georgia, said Mark Wilson, co-owner of the facility.

A studio operations and client development professional in the filming industry, Wilson joined forces with commercial real estate investors Gonzalo Marquez and Rick Rodriguez, and real estate financer and commercial photographer Mikey Thompson.

The fully equipped production space also boasts a broadcasting tower for live and pre-recorded broadcast from the facility

At the grand opening, over 300 Guests enjoyed a creative selection from 4 phenomenal Alcohol Sponsors Padre Azul Tequila, St. Royale Vodka, Ou-Oui Caribbean Rum and The Finnish Long Drink Gin.

Corporate entertainment guests included Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson, DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Davis, VP of Ecosystem Expansion of Metro Atlanta Grant Wainscott, Chairman of DeKalb County Entertainment Commission Andrew Greenberg, Director of Digital Entertainment and Emerging Technology Asante Bradford, Chairman of the Atlanta Film Society Cal Boulder, Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia Alejandro Coss, Director of DeKalb Entertainment Commission Shelbia Jackson and President of Skillshot Media Todd Harris.

Other guests included Director Chris Butcher, Producer Bill Hill, Actress Brely Evans, Actress Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, Actress Erica Page, Actress Asia Sparks, Actor Miko DeFoor and so many more.

Entertainment was provided by local comedians Angel Contreras and David Perdue, local Aztec dance company Danza Azteca Ehecatl, and feature artist Chris Blue, Season 12 Winner of “The Voice.”
