Akbar V speaks for Black sons in new single, visual
Atlanta rapper Akbar V, aka The Queen o Atlanta, recently debuted her new single “Don’t Shoot,” accompanied by a music video. The Sparkz and Menace-produced track lends Akbar V a rambunctious foundation to speak heavy on the unjust killing of George Floyd by the police and protecting her Black sons. Filmed in Houston’s Third Ward, “Don’t Shoot” meets the people in their element: a Geroge Floyd mural, good food, community, surrounded by children running around, Black people loving each other and Akbar V spreading kindness and facetime with the ones she does it for.
“Don’t Shoot” is the latest single from Akbar V, which follows “Stick Talk” ft. North Carolina’s own 704 Chop, “Prayer” and the least single “Leaked” ft. Chicago’s own Tink. The compilation of singles come before Akbar V releases her new mixtape entitled, “The Coldest Summer 2.”
