Josh Dean debuts new music video for ‘Drop Dead’

Rising singer, songwriter and visual artist, Josh Dean debuts his new music video for his single, “Drop Dead”.

The dreamy, yet futuristic visual oozes fashion, sex appeal, color and unconventional choreography. The video is directed by acclaimed director, Child (Lucky Daye, BJ The Chicago Kid, Ari Lennox) and serves as the first visual introduction to the amazing young talent.

“Drop Dead” is a soul, pop and funk-infused track taken from his debut EP, “Dear BlackSheepe,” which was released in March 2019 and was praised by Billboard for its innovation and breakthrough sound.

The project draws its name from his experiences feeling like an outcast while growing up in Alabama, Florida and Atlanta. It was during this time that Josh developed a love for music, first singing with his grandmother in her church choir.

While, Dean has recently earned writing credits on Janelle Monáe’s GRAMMY-nominated LP, “Dirty Computer” as well as sung background on the #1 GRAMMY-nominated hit single, “Classic Man” by Jidenna.

He actually received his first big break in the music industry as a graphic designer.

Josh started his career as an intern for Bryan-Michael Cox before eventually becoming Art Director for Janelle Monáe’s Wondaland Records, where Janelle accidentally discovered his raw musical talent after Josh left his vocals on a Jidenna demo when learning how to engineer his voice.

With a new video, a buzzed-about EP and plans for a tour in the fall, Josh Dean is certainly forging his way as a rising star to watch with talent to match!
